Description
ICRISAT develops hybrid parents and cultivars for traits of interest in these three crops and recognizes Private Sector (PS) seed companies as a valuable partners for research on hybrid
cultivar development and commercialization. Hybrid Parents Research Consortia was established in 2000 and at present, about 30 companies from various countries are partnering in HPRC. This approach harnesses synergies between CGIAR and the PS in the development and marketing of seed of improved cultivars, without compromising the CG’s global research agenda in delivering international public goods (IPGs).
